Among the aircraft involved in these strategic operations were not only two US B-52H strategic bombers but also a mix of US and South Korean F-35 fifth-generation fighter jets, along with F-15 and F-16 fighter jets.

“The US strategic bombers teamed up with the Republic of Korea to carry out this aerial exercise, symbolizing the ally’s joined capabilities to react swiftly and assertively to any provocations from North Korea,” the official statement explained.

A month ago, for the first time ever, US B-52H strategic bombers docked at an airbase on South Korean soil, which makes this latest exercise particularly significant.

Meanwhile, North Korea announced on the same day they’ve developed a pioneering high-thrust solid-propellant engine designed for medium-range ballistic missiles.

“The DPRK’s missile industry has unveiled a novel high-thrust solid-propellant engine, designed with strategic importance for medium-range ballistic missiles. Ground-based missile tests for the first and second stage engines were successfully held on November 11 and November 14, respectively,” stated the Korean Central News Agency [KCNA].

Additionally, it has been forecasted that next week, the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the USS Carl Vinson, will arrive at the South Korean port of Pusan.
