MOSCOW, RUSSIA — The High-precision Complexes holding [part of Rostec] handed over the first batch of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles in 2023 to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the state corporation announced.
- RosOboronExport unveiled 15 new weapons amid war and sanctions
- Russians capture Turkish-made Kirpi MRAP vehicle and put a ‘V’ on it
- Sanctions worked: Russia cannot keep up with the tank demand
The machines were manufactured at the KurganMashZavod. BMP-3s are equipped with a Sodema gunner’s main sight and additional protective sets – armored screens and grids.
During the year, Rostec should transfer to the Ministry of Defense the modernized multi-purpose amphibious armored personnel carriers BTR-MDM Rakushka and armored rescue vehicles BREM-L, said Mr. Behan Ozdoev, industrial director of the state corporation’s weapons complex.
In August of last year, Rostec at the Army-2022 forum presented a robotic version of the BMP-3 with the Sinitsa combat module, which can operate without a crew. The vehicle is equipped with an automatic loading mechanism, a digital fire control system, and electrical control. So, the BMP can be controlled remotely using a remote control.
On January 23, Rostec included in its catalog BMP-3 with a new remote-controlled weapon station. The machine is equipped with a 100 mm cannon, a 30 mm automatic cannon, and a 7.62 mm machine gun.
In this way, the manufacturer RosObornExport slightly changes the functionality of the vehicle. According to BulgarianMilitary.com, this modernization is a consequence of an assessment of the APCs in the war with Ukraine.
According to the state-owned corporation, the BMP can also operate on water, engage enemy manpower, lightly armored targets, infantry fighting vehicles, and armored personnel carriers, tanks, and other targets with increased protection, as well as low-speed air targets, including helicopters.
15 new weapons
The development and production of new weapons in Russia do not stop. This is despite committing a large part of the defense budget to the war. This is happening despite the international economic sanctions imposed because of the invasion of Ukraine.
15 new weapons and systems complete the catalog of RosOboronExport. Tested and produced in 2022, they have already received an export license. From 2023, the Russian export company will offer them on international markets.
RosOboronExport published a press release describing the more interesting new weapons filling the company’s product portfolio. Among them are a new sniper rifle, air defense, countermeasures, drones, controllable modules, etc.
