BEIJING, CHINA — A ship carries warships. State-run Chinese television showed the first footage of the Yinmahu platform, which is capable of carrying warships. The Yinmahu is a platform classified as a “heavy underwater platform”, Chinese media reported.

Yinmahu operates on a dry dock basis. First Yinmahu sinks to a certain depth. Then the battleship to be transported docks at the designated location. Finally, Yinmahu floated to his original position. So the battleship ended up on Yinmahu’s transport deck ready to be transported.
Military experts say Yinmahu’s functionality has a much larger purpose. I.e. withdrawing a warship that needs repair, upgrade, or maintenance. Yinmahu does not aim so much to deliver the warship from one point to its final destination as to repair it during delivery. This saves not only a lot of time but also a lot of costs.
Platforms operating on the principle of “dry dock” have only one other country in the world – the USA. The Chinese Yinmahu can transport very large warships. Chinese state television said warships with a displacement of 100,000 tons could be “raised in dry dock” at Yinmahu. To imagine how big this amount is, let’s say that the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning is 70.5 thousand tons.
The Yinmahu is not the first such ship in service with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy. The first platform that China launched in 2015 is called Donghaidao.
China continues to increase the size of its navy. The last ship to launch was the aircraft carrier Fujian. It is the third aircraft carrier in the composition of the Chinese Navy. Fujian is named after one of the largest provinces in China – the eastern province of Fujian.
Chinese state television announced that only Chinese technology was used when Fujian was built. The displacement of the third aircraft carrier of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army is 80,000 tons.
