MOSCOW ($1=60.48 Russian Rubles) — Russia has developed a NATO caliber 155mm on its best Msta-S self-propelled howitzer. This is reported by the Russian media, citing the Russian company Rosoboronexport. The howitzer with the new caliber will be presented at the upcoming ADEX defense exhibition in Azerbaijan.

Currently, Msta-S has a caliber of 152.4 mm. This is a common Russian standard that serves different artillery guns in the same caliber. Azerbaijan also operates 155mm caliber on some of its artillery pieces. The situation is similar in some countries in the Caucasian and Asian regions. Russia will try to offer the Msta-S precisely in this market and for this reason, has developed a NATO-caliber version.
ADEX-2022 is the largest military exhibition in this region during this period of the year. The choice of Azerbaijan for the presentation of the 155mm Msta-S is not accidental. Despite some political and economic disagreements in the relationship between the two countries, Baku is one of the main buyers of Russian arms in the Caucasus.
Msta-S in Ukraine
Despite the imposed economic sanctions, the Russian tank plant UralTransMash continues to produce the Msta-S self-propelled howitzers. The last delivery for the war in Ukraine of Msta-S was made in August. This delivery was with modernized Msta-S – a new automated fire guidance and control system.
Msta-S is the main artillery in the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. It is powered by a diesel engine providing 840 horsepower. The maximum range of the projectile is up to 36 km, but it depends on its type. Msta-S is famous for its fast work during military operations. Within one minute, it can fire up to 10 projectiles, which is a serious competitive advantage.
Other equipment to display
Rosoboronexport commented that it will exhibit at least 500 Russian military products at the exhibition. Among them, in addition to the Msta-S, Russia will display reconnaissance attack helicopters Ka-52E and Mi-35. The Su-35 fourth-generation fighter will also be presented at ADEX-2022. Rosoboronexport says it will also spare an Il-76MD-90A[E] military transport aircraft, the BMPT Terminator tank support combat vehicle, the Buk-M2E anti-aircraft missile system, and the Khrizantema-S SPTRK.
According to the Russian company, the debut of special samples of the Tiger armored vehicle is expected with great interest. They are suitable for both military and police units. Autonomous cars, border protection and critical points, posts, and observation systems of Russian design will also take part in the exhibition.
