KYIV, ($1=30.25 Ukrainian Hryvnias) — Ukraine continues to strike at Russian warships in the Black Sea. Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 hit a landing warship of project class 11770 Serna.
Ukraine, which currently has no navy, continues to attack Russian warships in the Black Sea. So far, Russia has lost its leading Black Sea cruiser and two Raptor-class patrol boats. The last two were hit by Bayraktar TB2 as well.
In addition, although it is alleged that the frigate “Admiral Makarov” was hit, this has not yet been confirmed. Finally, a landing of project 11770 Serna was added to Russia’s losses in the Black Sea. The Ukrainian army, which has been hitting Russian Army targets on Snake Island for some time with Bayraktar TB2, has focused its efforts on destroying the Serna-class landing craft that has approached the island.
The video footage shows the strike on the landing ship and, according to Turkish experts, it was attacked with Roketsan MAM-L ammunition, which resulted in several serious damages to the ship’s bridge.
To date, the Russian Federation has built 12 landing ships of the Serna class project 11770. The Russian Black Sea Fleet had only 2 of these ships. The hit ship is believed to have been either a D-144.
Landing ships of the Serna class project 11770
Serna-class landing craft has a maximum displacement of 99.7 tons. They have a length of 25.6 meters, a width of 5.6 meters, a speed of 30 knots, an economic speed of 12 knots, a range of 600 nautical miles, and a payload of 1 tank [or 2 BTR or 92 soldiers or 50 tons of cargo].
Serna-class landing ships, which do not have any weapons system, are of great importance, especially for a possible landing operation against the Ukrainian city of Odesa.
2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine
On 21 February 2022, the Russian government claimed that Ukrainian shelling had destroyed an FSB border facility on the Russia Ukraine border, and claimed that it had killed 5 Ukrainian soldiers who tried to cross into Russian territory. Ukraine denied being involved in both incidents and called them a false flag.
On the same day, the Russian government formally recognized the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR as independent states, according to Putin not only in their de-facto controlled areas, but the Ukrainian Oblasts as a whole, and Putin ordered Russian troops, including tanks, to enter the regions.
On 24 February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an invasion of Ukraine by Russian Armed Forces previously concentrated along the border. The invasion followed by targeted airstrikes of military buildings in the country, as well as tanks entering via the Belarus border.
Russia has so far not recognized the invasion of Ukraine as a “war”, although that is exactly what it is, claiming that it is a “special military operation”. According to the UN, in which Russia has its permanent representation, for military action to be defined as a “special military operation”, it must have a resolution issued by the UN. There is no such resolution, which automatically defines the military actions of the Russians as an invasion and war against the citizens of Ukraine.
