TEL AVIV, ($1=3.25 Israeli Shekels) — At the Singapore air show, Elbit Systems exhibits for the first time the hybrid tactical unmanned aerial vehicle Skylark 3 [STUAS], BulgarianMilitary.com has learned, citing Soldat & Technik.

The Skylark 3, which was introduced to the Israeli army in 2016, is now powered by an additional internal combustion engine, according to Elbit. At the same size and weight, the flight duration is tripled and allows flights of up to 18 hours.

Powered by an internal combustion engine, the Skylark 3 Hybrid flies fast to the target area. There, the work in the target area is switched to the almost silent electric motor. The two motors can support each other if necessary. According to Elbit, this increases the reliability and security of the system.

Significantly increased endurance of the Skylark 3 Hybrid provides the armed forces with greater capacity to hover over the AOI and requires fewer platforms to carry out the same mission.

After a pneumatic start – from a land vehicle or ship – the Skylark 3 Hybrid reaches altitudes of up to 3700 meters with a maximum takeoff weight of 50 kg, says Elbit about the operation of the system. The range is 120 km. The sensors can be quickly replaced via a plug-and-play interface.

Elbit offers, among other things, a high-resolution electro-optical cardan shaft, ELINT and COMINT sensors, as well as laser markings. The first delivery order has already been received, Elbit announced.

HERO-30, HERO-120 and HERO-400

As we reported in November last year, the Israeli company UVision Air presented tactical anti-tank ammunition. UVision Air introduced HERO-30 barrage munitions, which the company previously claimed could be used for “surgical” attacks, and HERO-120, which is capable of destroying armored targets, and HERO-400, which are designed to destroy fortified long-range targets.

The company emphasizes that the HERO barrage family of ammunition is specially designed to meet the specific requirements for launching from an air platform. With low acoustic, visual, radar, and thermal characteristics, as well as a powerful warhead to counter important and fortified targets, the systems can locate, track and strike hidden or moving objects with high accuracy.

HERO systems suitable for use, including from several air platforms, have high flight speed in combat training and a modular payload designed for various electronic activities, as well as explosive “kinetic” charges, making them suitable for use in almost any long-range attack.
