HELSINKI, ($1=0.90 Euros) — Finnish infantry acquires three new Armored Modular Vehicle Patria 6×6, which will be tested in the coming months to determine operational readiness before starting mass production. In an official press release, the Finnish company Patria announced this news, saying that the order is a pre-series.

“With pre-series testing, the customer can get acquainted with the vehicle, its usage, and operating features comprehensively beforehand, thus ensuring the fluent and effective establishment of operational readiness when the serial order deliveries begin. All three vehicles will be delivered to the customer in the summer of 2022,” says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President, Finland Division of Patria.
Patria 6×6 AMV is a joint program between Finland, Latvia, and Estonia. The company says that at this stage all three countries are going according to plan in the serial production of the armored modular vehicle. In Latvia, the first Patria 6×6 AMV is already being operated by the Latvian infantry, and mass production is also starting there. According to the latest information, another Scandinavian country is showing serious interest in joining the program, and that is Sweden.
Patria 6×6 AMV
The Patria 6×6 AMV is a high-performance, modular armored infantry vehicle that the manufacturer says is extremely robust and affordable. According to Patria, this infantry vehicle is designed to be reconfigured in different variants according to the missions performed.
The Patria 6×6 AMV has STANAG level 4 protection. STANAG is a NATO standard that demonstrates the ability of a combat vehicle to withstand kinetic energy, artillery, and IED blasts. Class 4 guarantees Patria 6×6 AMV users that the vehicle can withstand an explosion below its center, withstand an explosion from a mine under each of the wheels, and withstand a 155mm projectile within a radius of 30m. According to this class of protection Patria 6×6, AMV can withstand kinetic energy shocks with characteristics 14.5 × 114mm AP / B32 at 200 meters with 911 m / s.
Another feature that guarantees the quality of the Patria 6×6 AMV is the drive and movement of the vehicle. Patria 6×6 AMV has independent suspension, as well as an engine providing 294 kW, output torque of 1870 Nm, and an automatic transmission with 7 + 2 gears.
Patria can carry up to 10 soldiers plus a crew consisting of a leader, commander, and shooter. The car has optimized mobility with continuous all-wheel drive and steering from the front two axles. Amphibious ability to cross water and landing operations is available as an option.
