SOFIA, ($1=1.71 Bulgarian Levas) – The Spanish engineering and defense company Escribano Mechanical & Engineering [EM&M] integrates the first four remote Guardian weapon systems [RWS], ordered by the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, citing Infodefense.

In particular, the equipment was installed on the first four 4×4 armored vehicles from the local company Samel-90, purchased for the country’s special forces. Eight more RWS Guardians are expected to be added in the coming months, according to the company.
EM&M defines the Guardian system as a solution specifically designed to be integrated into a wide range of platforms and vehicles, providing “excellent short- and medium-distance defense capabilities”. At the same time, the manufacturer emphasizes its “optimum shooting accuracy due to the newly designed two-axis stabilized system”. It is part of the equipment “linked to the latest technologies in EM&E electro-optical systems, which allows the detection, recognition, and identification of targets on a wider range than its competitors”.
RWS Guardian is an extremely adaptable product to the requirements of each client due to its modular architecture. This is, the source continues, “an excellent solution against asymmetric threats and can work in extreme conditions.” In addition, its “design facilitates maintenance and increases its reliability.”
About Guardian 2.0
Guardian 2.0 is a two-axis gyro-stabilized remote weapon station that can be operated day or night in adverse weather conditions. The system can be installed on different types of platforms and vehicles. The system can mount various weapon calibers: 5.56mm., 7.62mm., 12.70mm., and 40mm. MKII grenade launcher, as well as smoke launchers.
Guardian 2.0 includes an electro-optical system with an independent Pan & Tilt subsystem, integrated by a thermal camera, a day sight camera, and a laser range finder. A laser pointer can also be included.
Its light and modular design provide high operability against asymmetrical threats. It is a high cost-effective defense solution.

For the CEO of the manufacturing company Angel Escribano, the contract for the supply of this equipment to Bulgaria “is a big stage for our company, which shows that the Spanish defense industry is a strong and secure partner”.
In a statement detailing the operation, the company emphasized that EM&M “manufactures and designs its products with a clear commitment to offering the most innovative and creative solutions for the defense sector, consolidating its international presence”.
