Russia expects new Su-35s, Su-57s, helos, and Kinzhal missiles in 2022

MOSCOW, ($1=74.63 Russian Rubles) – The Deputy Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces [VKS], General Andrei Yudin, announced in an interview the plans of the armed force in 2022, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

In the year that has just begun, more than 200 units of equipment, including future hypersonic weapons, are expected to enter service: “As part of the State Defense order in 2022, the purchase of over 200 units of the main aircraft of the Aerospace Forces is expected to will make it possible to achieve a modernization level of 89%.”

Specifically, Yudin stated that the VKS will receive more than 200 aircraft including the new fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57, the Su-35 multirole fighters, the Mil Mi-28NM, Mi-8AMTSh-VN, and Ka-52M combat helicopters, Il-76MD-90A transport aircraft, and DA-42T basic training aircraft; not forgetting the air defense systems S-350 and S-400, Pantsir-S and carriers for Angara space loads.

“Currently, there is an active phase in the supply of weapons to the troops and taking into account the fulfillment by the industrial organizations of their obligations by the end of the current year, the share of modern weapons and military equipment it will reach 87%, while maintenance will reach 83%,” he said.

At present, in fact, among the innovative weapon systems in service, there is only the MiG-31K system equipped with the Kh-47M2 Kinžal hypersonic air-to-surface cruise missile, capable, according to the manufacturers, of reaching well Mach 10 and hitting targets at a distance of over 2,000 km.

According to official data since the end of 2017 ten MiG-31K interceptors have been put into experimental service in the Southern Military District.

Last September, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Yuri Borisov, called the hypersonic and new technology-based weapons sector very promising. “For many years we have tried to be on par with or to reach the level of weapons development of countries westerners. Today we can claim to be ahead in the field of hypersonic weapons manufacturing.”
