PRAGUE, ($1=22.03 Czech Korunas) – Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulganek discussed the situation with illegal immigrants on the border with Belarus with his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau and announced his country’s readiness to help, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
“I spoke with my Polish counterpart, Zbigniew Rau. We discussed the terrible situation on the Polish-Belarusian border. I expressed our solidarity with Poland and confirmed our readiness to assist if necessary,” Kulganek wrote on his Twitter account.
He added that the discussion of the situation with Belarus will continue on Monday during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Visegrad Four countries [Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary].
As reported, the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border became more complicated last Monday, when several thousand migrants from the Middle East approached the border with Poland from the Belarusian side, wishing to move to the EU. Polish officials have described what is happening as the most difficult moment since the beginning of the crisis on the border.
Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia in recent months have recorded an increased flow of illegal immigrants trying to enter the EU through Belarus. The European Union accuses Belarus that it was she who created chaos near the EU borders since it does not let back illegal migrants from the countries of the Middle East and Africa who are trying to get into the European Union but are refused.
The Baltic states accuse the Belarusian authorities of organizing migrant flows and call it “hybrid aggression”. The European Commission adheres to the same position.
