WASHINGTON – The US intelligence community has concluded that the COVID-19 coronavirus was not developed as a biological weapon, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, citing Tabu.bg, and an official report from the US National Intelligence Council published this Friday [October 29th].

“We believe that the virus was not created as a biological weapon,” the report said. “Most agencies also estimate with a low level of confidence that the virus may not have been genetically modified. However, two agencies believe that there is not enough data to make such an assessment,” the report said.
According to the report, US intelligence agencies have not reached a consensus on the origin of the virus and believe that two hypotheses about the origin of COVID-19 are likely: an animal infection and “related to a laboratory incident [in Wuhan].”
The intelligence community cannot provide more specific information on the origin of COVID-19 without additional information identifying a specific route of natural contact with an animal or proving that the Wuhan laboratory has been involved in SARS-CoV-2 or related to him a viral precursor before the advent of COVID-19, the report said.
The report also states that “assistance from China will be needed to achieve a definitive assessment of the origin of the virus.” “However, Beijing continues to obstruct the investigation, refuse to disclose information, and blame other countries, including the United States,” it said.
COVID-19 coronavirus infection was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province in late 2019, after which it began to spread around the world. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization [WHO] declared a coronavirus pandemic.
By early April 2020, the WHO had reported that the number of cases of COVID-19 infection worldwide had exceeded 1 million. By mid-October 2021, almost 240 million cases of infection had been registered worldwide.
Most scientists initially believed that COVID-19 was a zoonotic virus. It is thought to be transmitted to humans by bats. To establish the source of the coronavirus, the WHO has launched a special investigation. To this end, in early February 2021, a group of WHO experts visited the Institute of Virology in Wuhan and after the visit concluded that a virus leak from the laboratory of the institute is “extremely unlikely.” Many Western countries disagree with the results of this investigation.
China has repeatedly opposed WHO calls for further investigations into the country to establish the source of COVID-19.
