TEL AVIV, (BM) – According to information from the American military news media DefenseNews the Israeli military has started a procedure for the development of high-tech military products in the field of surveillance, human tracking, security and artificial intelligence, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
For this purpose, one of the largest military companies in the world, which is Israeli, the Israel Aerospace Industries [IAI – ed.] has already decided and selected five civilian startups, which together with military engineers to start work on product development. The five start-ups are QuantLR, Aigent-Tech, DST, Scopoli and FVMat.
According to a press release issued by the company, this will allow the five companies to operate in the high-tech environment of military engineering, as well as provide them with huge business potential, both in domestic and foreign markets.
We remind you that the Israeli international company IAI develops, manufactures and maintains various military products in the field of air, land and naval forces.
From the history and scope of the selected five companies it is clear that Tel Aviv will focus on the development and integration in military engineering of materials of different densities, navigation technologies and autonomous modes of operation, quantum encryption and data transmission, surveillance and intelligence real-time, and tracking objects and people.
Investing in such projects is not a novelty, but a common and proven practice worldwide, including in Israel, which is perhaps the most developed country in terms of military technology. According to the IAI, last year alone the company’s management invested more than $ 900 million. for such military research activities, and 191 million of them were used by their own innovative engineering groups.
According to a representative of the company, this way of working and the “DNA” and the essence of the company. The IAI has already built a brand new innovation center for this purpose, which will not only improve developments in the military industry, but will also provide jobs and futures for a large number of local start-ups. The IAI is already working on a similar project with an external company, and it is expected that the Israeli army will soon have a completely new type of development in the field of computer vision, cyber technology, 3D printing and working with a large database.
For reference only, in August the company invited civilian participants and start-up businesses to offer their projects to the IAI Innovation Center. This invitation was public and 90 local Israeli companies appeared, of which, as it has already become clear, the IAI has selected five.
A spokesman for the IAI said that this model of work is unique and works for both countries – civilian companies get to know and gain access to the operational work of the Israeli military, and the Israeli military gets access to their engineers and developments.
So far, the IAI has not publicly announced the funding of the five selected companies, but the company’s innovation center has already been “injected” with several million dollars, so funding is not expected to be a problem for the five projects. However, the company wants to note that the Israeli military does not invest directly in companies, but unites with them, which is beneficial and financially profitable for both parties, ensuring control over the funds spent.
