BEIRUT, (BM) – Dozens were killed and hundreds injured in an explosion at a port in Beirut, Lebanon, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing local sources and TV channel Al Arabia.
According to initial information spread among the media, this is a warehouse with fireworks.
However, analysts on our site drew attention to several indisputable facts: the explosion itself demolished one or two buildings, and the shock wave destroyed the roofs of neighboring buildings. Analysts suggest that we are talking about an ammunition depot, including TNT.

The explosion at the port of Beirut damaged the facade of the Russian embassy. This was announced by RIA Novosti with reference to a representative of the diplomatic mission.
The explosion occurred on August 4. Reuters quoted eyewitnesses as saying that a column of smoke was rising above the site of the explosion. According to Al Arabiya TV in Beirut, several explosions erupted at once, and a roar was heard more than 20km from the city.
According to the Lebanese TV channel LBC, the country’s Minister of Health Hamad Hassan said that the scale of the damage is significant, and the number of injured is very large. He instructed all hospitals in Beirut to receive victims of the explosion without delay.
The Governor of Beirut, Marwan Abboud, arrived at the scene of the explosion in the port, after the connection with the fire brigade was lost, which was extinguishing the burning warehouse in the port.
Local TV channels reported that the authorities ruled out a terrorist attack.
