MOSCOW, (BM) – Russia begins to build six warships in same day, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing several Russian media and the State Television and Radio Company Vladivostok. According to them on July 16 at three shipyards laid 6 ships for the Russian Navy.
“The deadlines can still be postponed, but the probability is small. And even in this case, construction will begin in July,” a source in the shipbuilding industry said.
Recall that the initial laying of ships and submarines was planned for April 28. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this date was postponed.
It is known that two multipurpose ships of project 22350 will be built at the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg. They will be designed for the use of Zircon hypersonic missiles, as well as Onyx and Caliber cruise missiles. Seventh and eighth frigates of this type will be given names in honor of the Soviet admirals Emil Spiridonov and Ivan Yumashev.
Two nuclear submarines of type 885M will be laid in Severodvinsk. They will be called Voronezh and Vladivostok. These submarines are multi-purpose advanced cruisers of the Ash project with the same set of missiles as on ships of the 22350 type.
Two universal landing ships of project 23900 will be built at the Crimean Zaliv plant. Up to a thousand marines, 6 landing boats and 75 units of military equipment can simultaneously be on board helicopter carriers. The air group will include two dozen helicopters. Vessels of this type have not been built in Russia before.
Russian future aircraft carrier will be equipped with S-500 anti-aircraft systems
As we reported yesterday [July 13 – ed.] the Russian aircraft carrier of the 23000 Shtorm project, which is planned to be adopted by the Russian Navy in the next decade, will receive the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system.
According Russian sources, the S-500 Prometheus is capable of hitting all existing types of aerodynamic and ballistic targets, detecting the latter at distances up to 800 kilometers.
This will make the Russian aircraft carrier truly invincible, since any attack on it will be suppressed for hundreds of kilometers.
“It was previously reported that the laying of the 1st aircraft carrier of project 23000 Shtorm could be carried out by 2025, and that the basis for its aircraft wing would be deck versions of the Su-35 and Su-57 fighters [Su-35K and Su- 57K]” the article author said.
The author also said that “so far, such sources of fighter generation 4 ++ and 5 official sources have not presented even in the form of mock options. Tests of the “regular” [non-deck] version of the Su-57 are ongoing. There was also information that the Shtorm aircraft carrier will be equipped with the latest S-500K S-500K (SAM) Prometheus system – a ship-based version”.
Having received the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter and the Prometey S-500 system in its arsenal, the Russian aircraft carrier of the 23000 Shtorm project will simply become an invincible fortress – in fact, he will not be afraid of even hypersonic weapons, since the capabilities of the Russian Prometheus for this are more than enough.
Russia is determined to arm its navy heavily
Russia continues to build up the strength of its military fleet, and the appearance of the frigate Admiral Kasatonov armed with 16 Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles as we reported on July 6 this year.
According to several military experts, no other country in the world can boast with a similar armament of its sea fleet.
“At present, the second frigate of this project, Admiral Kasatonov, is completing the tests. It is planned that this July he will be accepted into the Navy. I want to note that the ships of this project confirm the tactical and technical characteristics incorporated in them by the designer and manufacturer” the Russian Ministry of Defense told Krsnaya Zvesda reporters.
“And as having a large modernization reserve, project 22350 will certainly receive further development, which will affect ship systems and weapons. There is no doubt that these frigates will strengthen the grouping of surface ships of the Navy in the far sea zone due to their tactical and technical characteristics,” the Russian Ministry of Defense also said.
The Russian warship will indeed be equipped with all kinds of weapons, which are promising and will remain so for the next 10-15 years.
Russian Northern Fleet will receive the latest hypersonic weapons
As we reported last month [June 2 – ed.] Russia’s Northern Fleet will receive the latest weapons, including hypersonic, which will significantly increase its combat power. This was announced by Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Alexander Moiseev in an interview with Red Star.
“By the end of the year, more than 180 units of weapons and military equipment adapted for use in the harsh conditions of the Arctic will go into service with the ground and coastal forces of the fleet,” said the commander.
According to him, tests of new weapons, in particular hypersonic, will also be continued. This will allow in the future “to qualitatively increase the combat potential of the Northern Fleet.”
On May 31, Izvestia wrote that the nuclear submarines of projects 955A Borey and 885M Yasen would enter the service of the Russian Northern Fleet. In 2022, the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov and the nuclear cruiser Admiral Nakhimov will return to service after repair.
In addition, the main striking forces of the fleet will be armed with Caliber cruise missiles and Zircon with supersonic missiles.
Russia’s Fleet is getting stronger
Although the Pacific Fleet is unlikely to become the most powerful ocean force in the near future, work is underway to restore it to a level consistent with its former glory. One of the differences between the former and the current Pacific Fleet is that its surface component will be replenished with an increasing number of frigates, corvettes and small missile ships.
Among the 15 new vessels that will be part of the Pacific Fleet are Project 20385 “Thundering” multipurpose corvette, Project 636.3 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky diesel-electric submarine, Project 12700 minesweeper Yakov Balyaev, Project 03160 Raptor anti-sabotage boat, sea tugboat “Andrey Stepanov” and two emergency rescue boats of project 23040.
Last November, a series of different tests in the Sea of Japan passed the Russian corvette Loud. This is the seventh ship to be built as part of the new Russian series of ships of the Steregushchiy class, designed specifically for the Pacific Fleet of Russia. The Russian Navy command announced plans to lay a total of 13 corvettes of this class until 2021.
In addition to surface ships, in order to support the Pacific Fleet, powerful vessels will also replenish its underwater component. According to state media, last month the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, announced that in the near future the Pacific Fleet will receive six diesel-electric submarines of project 636.3.
“In the near term, the Pacific Fleet’s submarine forces will be replenished with a series of six units of Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarines being built at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg,” the congratulatory telegram of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy on the occasion of the 289th anniversary of the Russian Pacific Fleet reads. reports TASS.
Submarines have been modernized and equipped with new life support systems for operations in the Far East. The TASS news agency also announced that it plans to further equip the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet with 4th-generation nuclear submarines, as well as the development of coastal infrastructure for submarine-based submarines.
“Modernization work will continue on large Project 1155 anti-submarine ships and multipurpose submarines of existing projects,” added Evmenov. “The resource of these ships and submarines has a large modernization reserve, and it will be used.”
In the course of Russia’s military reforms, great successes have already been achieved in the Russian Black Sea and Baltic Fleets, as well as in the Caspian Flotilla. In addition, several submarines and warships were sent to the Northern Fleet.
