WASHINGTON, (BM) – The US Department of Defense announced the signing of an agreement on the supply and engineering support of 2.75-inch (70-mm) Hydra-70 unguided missiles for the United States Air Force, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
The framework agreement is signed by the US NE Contracting Command with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (General Dynamics-OTS), a division of General Dynamics.
The total value of the framework contract is $ 3.42 billion. Volumes, cost of procurement and the place of work will be determined as part of individual orders. It is planned that the implementation of the program will be fully completed by September 30, 2026.
Hydra-70 is a family of unguided missiles equipped with various types of warheads, which are used from aircraft and helicopters, including the AH-64 Apache and OH-58D Kiowa Warior U.S. Army, AH-1 Cobra ILC, F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters of the US Air Force.
General Dynamics has been manufacturing this type of missile since 1996.
The missile consists of two main components: the MK66 power plant and the warhead (warhead type may vary depending on the destination).
