MINNEAPOLIS, (BM) – The US Army is authorizing the US military police to deploy to the city of Minneapolis on the orders of the Pentagon. It is reported by the Associated Press, citing sources who are familiar with the situation, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
According to the agency, the Pentagon ordered soldiers from Fort Bragg in North Carolina and Fort Drama in New York to be ready for deployment within hours. As for the military from Fort Carson in Colorado and Fort Riley in Kansas – they are given 24 hours to prepare.
White House head Donald Trump has asked Secretary of Defense Mark Esper to tap into quick deployment options if protests in Minneapolis get out of hand, a Pentagon senior official said.
According to the source, military units will be deployed under the Uprising Act of 1807. The last time it was used during the riots in Los Angeles 18 years ago.
