“Breaching the international embargo, which was supposed to guarantee the development of the peace process in Libya, Turkey openly sends hundreds of armored vehicles, artillery pieces, unmanned aerial vehicles, heavy machine guns and other offensive weapons to our country,” he said.

During the briefing, al-Mismari presented footage showing allegedly captured and destroyed Turkish equipment in Libya.

“On the screen you can see the recordings from the video recorder of one of the Turkish armored vehicles“ Kirpi ”captured by Libyan soldiers during the battles with members of terrorist groups deployed from Syria south of the city of Tripoli,” he explained.

He also showed footage from the port of Tripoli, where, according to him, “Turkish instructors trained the militants in the operation of the equipment transferred to them.”

“The footage from January 11, 2020 shows how driving lessons are conducted,” he added.

According to al-Mismari, video recordings prove Turkey’s violation of international standards.

He also recalled that the Government of National Accord (GNA) of Libya rejected the proposal to introduce a ceasefire in the month of Ramadan.

“We deny the accusations of our side of hitting the hospital in Tripoli, which appeared earlier,” he added.

On May 21, the Libyan PNS announced that they had refused the proposed LNA temporary truce for the period of the month of Ramadan, as this is an attempt by the LNA to gain time.

Libyan civil war

In Libya, armed clashes are currently taking place between supporters of different leaders. The country is led by the Government of National Accord (GNA), headed by Prime Minister Fayez Saraj, the “eastern government” led by Abdullah Abdurrahaman at-Thani.

The eastern government is supported by the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar.

Recall that January 13 in Moscow, negotiations were held between the heads of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalif Haftar and the Government of National Accord (GNA) Faiz Sarraj. Also present were members of the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Turkey.

On the meeting the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has notified Russia about the conditions for continuing negotiations on the signing of a peace agreement in Libya.

According to the requirements of Haftar, the militias operating in Libya are required to surrender weapons in the period from 45 to 90 days. This process should be controlled by a special commission created by the LNA together with the UN

Haftar also refused to recognize Turkey as an intermediary in resolving the situation in Libya, since the Turkish side is not neutral and supports the Government of National Accord (GNA).
