TEHRAN, (BM) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called for the arming of the people of Israel’s West Bank, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing EurAsia Daily.

“The West Bank should be armed like the Gaza Strip. Strength is the only thing that can reduce the suffering of the Palestinian people,” Khamenei wrote on his Twitter page.

“Concessions will not reduce the atrocities of a brutal (state) education (meaning Israel. – Ed.) That seized foreign lands,” said the spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic.

As BulgarianMilitary.com reported, the Mejlis (parliament) of Iran voted on the eve of May 18 for a bill to counter Israel. Section 1 of the law challenges all Iranian government bodies to use existing national and international capabilities to counter the actions of the “Israeli regime against the oppressed Palestinian nation and Muslim countries, including Iran, as well as the role of the (Israeli) regime in undermining regional and international peace and security.”

The document refers to Israel’s “large-scale and systematic” violation of human rights as a result of the ongoing “occupation of Palestinian and other territories, the creation of illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, attempts to annex Palestinian land and keep the Palestinians under siege”.

The law prohibits the transit of Israeli goods through Iran. In this case, the Iranian authorities are obliged to provide assistance to other peoples and states for the “liberation” of Jerusalem. Among other things, the creation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of the “virtual embassy” in Jerusalem, which is recognized by the Iranian side as the capital of Palestine, is envisaged. This measure should be implemented within six months of the entry into force of the law.

The decision of the Mejlis of Iran should be seen as Tehran’s reaction to the plans of the new Israeli government formed on May 17 to annex part of the Palestinian territory on the West Bank. Earlier, the leadership of the Jewish state warned the negative consequences of such a step by Turkey and a number of Arab countries.

Thus, in an interview with the German publication Der Spiegel, King of Jordan Abdullah II on May 15 said that if Israel decides to annex the Jordan Valley, this will lead to a “massive confrontation” of his country with the Jewish state.

Recall that in the text of the coalition agreement signed by the current Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and his future successor as Prime Minister Beni Ganz in the framework of the agreements on the formation of the Government of National Unity and the occupation of the Prime Minister on a rotational basis, the issue of expanding Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank is set aside separate section.

In it, in particular, it is said that from July 1, the Prime Minister of the Jewish state will be able to submit for discussion in the government and for approval in the Knesset (parliament) the issue of extending Israeli sovereignty to part of the Palestinian territories, coordinated with the United States.
