KAZANLAK, (BM) – On Thursday, May 14, an explosion occurred in the workshop for the production of smoke grenades at the Arsenal Bulgarian arms factory near the city of Kazanlak, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing locla TV channel bTV.
According to bTV channel, as a result of the incident, two employees of the enterprise were slightly injured, there is destruction.
According to preliminary data, the incident occurred at about 11:30 local time. Representatives of special services work at the scene, the area is cordoned off.
Other details of the incident are not given, the investigation into the causes of the incident continues.
The Arsenal plant in Bulgaria is a strategic facility. It is a major manufacturer and exporter of firearms and ammunition. The company produces pistols, machine guns, machine guns, grenade launchers, artillery and anti-aircraft guns, grenades, etc. It is considered the oldest arms factory in the country.
BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that on October 17 2018 in the same weapon factory had an explosion. The explosion happened at the morning, shortly after 9am in the 120 workshop of Arsenal’s plant 3. At the time of the accident, six people, working in the plant, have been wounded, with one of them seriously with a chest injury but non-life-threatening. The other five workers are said to have minor superficial injuries and burns.
