LONDON, (BM) – BMT shared some details regarding the development of unmanned pentamaran – a vessel with five parallel hulls connected at the top, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Naked Science.
The British company BMT has been working in the field of creating unmanned ships for many years and now has introduced the general concept of a promising pentamaran. Such vessels have five parallel hulls connected at the top. Among the advantages of the selected layout, good stability indicators are called.
The British want to fully unleash the potential of the scheme. When moving at low speed, all five BMT surface robot hulls will be located in the water, which will give the ship good stability. At the same time, at a higher speed, the front side sponsons will be located outside the water surface, which will reduce drag.
As a result, BMT wants to get a multi-functional unmanned ship, which can be used for patrol, reconnaissance, anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue missions and so on. The specific timing of the project was not announced by the British.
