An Iranian port hit by cyberattack from a state hostile to Iran

TEHRAN, (BM) – The head of the Port Authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Rastad, said that in recent days, a hacker attack was launched against the port of Shahid Rajay, located near Bandar Abbas, at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

“The cyberattack could not break through the protection of the Port Authority computer system, but it damaged the systems of private companies operating in the port. We pay significant attention to multilayer computer security issues and will constantly improve it,” ILNA quoted him as saying.

Rastad said that the attack could not interfere with the normal operation of the port and emphasized that it would not affect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. He also made it clear that behind the hackers is a state hostile to Iran.

Note that in recent months it became known about several hacker attacks against strategic infrastructure facilities in Israel. So, in late January, the Minister of National Infrastructure Yuval Steinitz announced the successful repulsion of the attack against one of the Israeli power plants.

In April 2020, Israeli water companies were attacked. In May, Fox News reported that Iran was responsible for the cyber attack. According to the channel, servers in the United States were used for the attack.
