MOSCOW, (BM) – Radar stations “Rado-M” and “Podlet”, reinforced by the automatic control system (ACS) “Foundation-M”, will cover the sky of the Far East, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to the newspaper, one of the Far Eastern radio engineering brigades received the appropriate equipment, and earlier, at the beginning of 2018, “Sky-M” entered the Crimea.
The publication recalls that Sky-M detects various targets, including inconspicuous fighters, at ranges of up to one thousand kilometers, while Podlet monitors small objects moving at low altitude.
In total, until 2021, the Ministry of Defense expects to supply at least twenty Sky-M units to the radio engineering troops.
In March, TASS, referring to a source in the military-industrial complex, reported that the second over-horizon “Container” radar, the radar field of which would cover almost the whole of Europe, would be deployed near Kaliningrad.
In August 2018, on the pages of the Zvezda weekly magazine, military expert at Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine Aleksey Leonkov wrote that American stealth fighters F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II allow the detection of Russian air defense radars.
