Russian Baltic Fleet warships eliminate enemy naval force in drills
The Baltic Fleet’s amphibious assault ships successfully repelled a notional enemy’s air attack and struck naval targets during tactical drills, the Fleet’s press office reported on Tuesday.
“At a Baltic Sea naval range, the naval task force comprising the large amphibious assault ships Kaliningrad and Korolyov, the air-cushion small amphibious assault ship Yevgeny Kocheshkov and Dyugon-class landing craft successfully accomplished the assignments of thwarting a notional enemy’s air attack and eliminating its surface ships,” the press office said in a statement.
The shipborne air defense capabilities locked on and eliminated notional air targets by artillery guns. After that, the large amphibious assault ships held artillery firings against sea targets, the statement says.
Iraq soldier killed, 5 wounded in Daesh attack in Diyala
An Iraqi soldier was killed and four others were wounded in an Daesh attack southwest of Baquba, in Diyala province, yesterday.
An Iraqi security source told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the terrorist group attacked a military post in the vicinity of Mahbubiyah near Bani Saad district, south-west of Baquba, wounding three soldiers.
He added that an explosive device had detonated while a military force was traveling to the area killing one soldier and wounding an officer.
Iraq declared victory over Daesh in December 2017 but elements of the group have continued to carry out attacks in the country.
An Azerbaijani drone was taken down over Karabakh
Azerbaijani ORBITER UAV was shot down by the military of the Artsakh (Karabakh) Defense Army on April 21, the Artsakh Armed Forces press service reports.
It is noted that the incident occurred at 13:07 (12:07 Moscow time) on April 21. The device was shot down by air defense forces of the republic.
“It is noteworthy that in addition to various combat aircraft and helicopters, drones were also involved, which for reconnaissance purposes are trying to penetrate the air territory of the Republic of Artsakh. Such an attempt was made today”, the Karabakh military said.
The defense army once again called on the Azerbaijani side to refrain from provocations.
It should be noted that on the same day, April 21, there were online negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan – Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mamedyarov. The meeting was initiated by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.
