NEW DELHI, (BM) – The bidders for India’s new fighter jet are all world leaders in the industry, said Anton Chernov, regional director of the MiG corporation (part of the UAC, which is part of Rostec), learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
According to him, SAAB with the Gripen E, Lockheed Martin with F-16 (F-21 for the Indian market) are participating in the tender.
“The Americans are very decisive, declare that they are ready to completely transfer the production line. There are twin-engine aircraft,” explained Chernov.
Boeing with the FA-18, Dassault with the Rafal, and Eurofighter Typhoon are also announced in the tender.
“We do not stand still. We have good chances to participate in the Indian tender for the purchase of fighters. Of course, we are participating in it, we responded to a request for information that was published by the Indian side. The competition is very tight,” said Chernov, RIA Novosti reports.
MiG has a “good backlog” and reputation, the CEO said. According to him, India has very serious requirements for the localization of production in the country.
“This tender implies the presence of a strategic partner in India, who will be the integrator of work in India,” said Chernov.
It is noted that the MiG-35 will be for India 20% cheaper than competitors. The Indian Air Force tender involves the purchase of 110 aircraft of this class.
In March, Bloomberg wrote that Indonesia, allegedly under pressure from the United States, abandoned plans to purchase from Russia 11 fighters in the amount of $ 1.1 billion. Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugaev said that Indonesia has not officially refused to buy Su-35 from Russia.
