BRUSSELS, (BM) – NATO Air Command has posted a video of intercepting Russian aircraft over the international waters of the Baltic Sea. First, the Belgian Air Force wrote on their Twitter page about the interception of the Su-24M, Su-27, An-26 and even Tu-134, and then the video arrived in time, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
It is reported that the action took place on April 17 in the international waters of the Baltic Sea, when Russian planes took control of the USS destroyer Donald Cook, assigned to the 6th US fleet.
The ship was located off the coast of Lithuania, therefore, the Russian command considered it necessary to justify its presence just in case, especially since the destroyer is armed with the Tomahawks.
The video shows the Su-24M and Su-27. The Belgian F-16s were at a rather respectful distance from Russian aircraft. The shooting was carried out from the cabin of the F-16, from where a very good overview.
Interceptions over the Baltic Sea take place regularly, usually without incident, in contrast to flights in the Mediterranean, when Americans periodically complain about too dangerous interceptions by Russian fighters.
Earlier, the Polish Air Force F-16 made an interesting maneuver, flying up to the Russian Flankers. At low speed, he suddenly released the chassis, which caused heated discussions among users of social networks.
