SEOUL, (BM) – Specialists from the Daegu Institute of Science and Technology and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Province (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, DGIST) have created a reagent using which the COVID-19 coronavirus test will take only 20 minutes, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing RIA Npvpsti.

The technology has already been transferred to the company and the test kit manufacturer has begun production, according to the website of the institute.

“The Core Protein Resources Center DGIST decided to provide the reagent for analysis with the coronavirus test company COVID-2019 to combat the state crisis caused by the coronavirus COVID-2019, an agreement was signed on April 3 and it has already begun production,” the website of the institute said.

According to the Institute’s website, the old coronavirus analysis method involves 40 times heating the equipment to a temperature of 90 degrees and then cooling to 60 degrees, which takes 4-6 hours in total, and the production of the reagent involves the use of expensive equipment worth 50 million won ( 41.3 thousand dollars).

The new test kit, developed by M-Monitor, is able to achieve the same effect, maintaining a temperature of only 60 degrees, which allows you to get results on site in 20-30 minutes. Without the need to maintain a difficult temperature regime, the price of equipment for creating test kits using a new reagent is reduced to one million won ($ 826).

More than 120 countries requested South Korea to purchase or provide coronavirus analysis kits she created as humanitarian aid. South Korea itself, at an early stage, reduced the analysis time from two days to six hours, and so far has carried out from 10 to 20 thousand analyzes per day, having already completed more than 477 thousand analyzes at COVID-19.

The number of coronavirus infected in South Korea reached 10,450, 7.1 thousand have already recovered, 208 have passed away.
