WASHINGTON, (BM) – The American magazine The National Interest called the Russian Su-35 fighter a threat to American aircraft, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
The text of the article, published on March 14, states that the Su-35 can be opposed to the US Air Force fighters F-15, F-18 and even F-35.
The publication describes the main advantages of the Russian aircraft as its maneuverability superior to the evasion methods of almost all existing fourth-generation fighters and weapons.
The equipment of the Su-35 includes a 30-mm GSh-30-1 gun with 150 shells, which is capable of carrying up to 8 tons of weapons at 12 nodes of the suspension. On the new American F-22 there are only seven points for weapons.
According to the author of the article, such characteristics make the Russian fighter in demand in other countries. So, the Su-35 is already in service with the Chinese Air Force. The list of potential buyers is Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, India and the UAE.
On March 12, the administration of US President Donald Trump forced Indonesia to abandon the purchase of the Su-35. According to an official familiar with the situation, because of the threat of imposing US sanctions, Jakarta decided not to advance in these negotiations.
BulgarianMilitary.com recals that the agreement for the supply of 11 fighters Russia and Indonesia signed in February 2018. The contract value was estimated at 1.14 billion dollars. It was noted that half of the amount – 570 million dollars – will be able to pay for goods deliveries. It was planned to start the transfer of aircraft back in 2019.
Su-35 is s multi-functional fighter generation 4 ++. The last combat aircraft built on the basis of the T-10S platform, which became the basis for the Su-27 / Su-30 family fighters and their modifications. The aircraft is purchased by the Russian Air Force (two contracts for 98 aircraft), and is also sold to China in the Su-35SK version (24 aircraft, the first ones transferred in December 2016).
