The employee returned from vacation in northern Italy, felt unwell at the end of last week and was examined due to the appearance of symptoms of the virus, including high fever.

“Currently, the employee is in isolation at home. A few minutes after receiving the result, all his immediate colleagues were informed. They worked from home at the end of last week and continue to do so,” the press service said.

All NATO headquarters staff were informed of the confirmed case of coronavirus infection, the report said.

“NATO continues to monitor the situation on an ongoing basis and take all necessary measures,” the press service said.

The Office also recalls that, in order to ensure the safety of staff and visitors, the headquarters of the Alliance have already taken preventive measures based on WHO guidelines to reduce the risk of further spread of the infection.
