Yemen’s Houthis down a tornado warplane belonging to ‘enemy forces’ – Al Masirah TV
Yemen’s Houthis military spokesperson, Yahya Saria, said that Houthis downed a tornado warplane belonging to “enemy forces” in Al-Jawf, the group’s Al-Masirah TV cited him as saying on Friday.
The spokesman said the warplane was downed with an advanced air-to-ground missile.
There was no immediate information if any crew were killed, and no immediate confirmation from Saudi-led coalition forces that are fighting the Iran-aligned Houthis.
US warship in Arabian Sea seizes suspected Iranian weapons
A US Navy warship seized weapons believed to be of Iranian “design and manufacture,” including 150 anti-tank guided missiles and three Iranian surface-to-air missiles, the American military said on Thursday, as reported by Reuters.
In a statement, the military said the guided-missile cruiser Normandy boarded a dhow, a traditional sailing vessel, in the Arabian Sea on Sunday.
“The weapons seized include 150 ‘Dehlavieh’ anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), which are Iranian-manufactured copies of Russian Kornet ATGMs,” the statement said, adding: “Other weapons components seized aboard the dhow were of Iranian design and manufacture and included three Iranian surface-to-air missiles”
The military said that the weapons seized on Sunday were “identical” to those seized by another US warship in November.
Pakistan backs Turkey’s anti-terror fight in Syria
Pakistan stands with Turkey in its fight against terrorism in Syria, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Friday.
His remarks came at a joint news conference, the last of the three events scheduled in Islamabad, during Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s two-day visit to the country.
“Recently, attacks were carried out against Turkey [in Syria]. Pakistan always stands with Turkey on this issue,” Khan said.
Khan thanked Erdogan for “raising voice for the oppressed Kashmiris” during his address in the Pakistani parliament earlier in the day.
“Eight million Kashmiris live in an open-air prison,” he said, adding that the decades-old dispute with rival India on Kashmir could only be resolved based on the UN resolutions.
Khan said a new era of trade cooperation has started between the two countries with the signing of a string of memoranda of understanding (MoU).
