French aircraft carrier has approached Syria at a distance of airstrikes

DAMASCUS, (BM) – The French Navy carrier strike group, led by the nuclear carrier Charles de Gaulle, operating in the Eastern Mediterranean, approached Syria from the range of air strikes by carrier-based aircraft, follows from satellite images of the European satellites Sentinel-2 and Planetscope, learned BulgarianMilitary.com quoting Interfax.

According to official figures, the aircraft carrier went on a campaign from the base in Toulon on January 22 to support the French armed forces fighting the militants of the Islamic State terrorist group.

The aircraft carrier has 18 Rafale M multipurpose fighter-bombers (Rafal M), two E-2C Hawkeye long-range radar detection aircraft (Hokai E-2C) and three helicopters.

The French aircraft carrier group includes two frigates, a nuclear strike submarine, a supply vessel, and a frigate of the Greek Navy.
