US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, after his visit to Ukraine, unexpectedly announced that this country had forever lost the Crimean peninsula – it was already impossible to take it from Russia, however, at the same time, Pompeo blamed Ukraine itself for the loss of Crimea.
“Crimea is lost. World players understand this. Ukraine gave Crimea, and Russia is not one of those from which it is possible to take something,” one of the participants in the meeting tells NV a replica of Pompeo for Crimea, the Ukrainian newspaper NV says.
Thus, the US Secretary of State directly made it clear to Ukraine that Washington did not intend to provide Kyiv with any support in trying to capture Crimea, although such statements had not previously been heard from Pompeo.

At the same time, the United States intends to continue supporting Ukraine in any political differences with Russia, including on the world stage,” the specialist notes.
