MOSCOW, (BM) – Russia is ready together with India to create a fifth-generation fighter; a positive signal to intensify this work may be a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for the purchase of Su-57, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, accoeding Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov statement.
Manturov said that the Russian side is ready to “continue negotiations on a fifth-generation fighter,” RIA Novosti reports.
“An important event took place in the Su-57 program – the Ministry of Defense placed an order for 76 fighters. I believe that this is a positive signal for our Indian partners, but we will discuss specific formats for cooperation,” he added.
The Minister also noted that the Russian new MiG-35 fighter, which was announced to participate in the Indian tender, surpasses many competitors “in flight performance and combat properties.”
In addition, we must not forget about economic feasibility, as well as a significant level of continuity for the Indian Air Force, which has successfully operated Russian-made equipment for over 50 years.
“Of course, the decision will be made by the Indian side, but I am convinced that Russia is the best supplier of modern combat aircraft for India,” the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized.
In turn, the General Director of the Technodinamika Holding (the managing organization of Techmash) Igor Nasenkov announced ahead of the international arms exhibition Defexpo India-2020 that Techmash is ready to help India localize the production of Mango-M tank ammunition.
He noted that the creation of the production of Russian 125mm 3VBM17 Mango tank rounds on Indian territory has become one of the largest Russian military-technical projects with India.
So, Tekhmash “provided the supply and installation of equipment, trained local specialists, and today the Indian manufacturer has successfully supplied the army with Mango shots under its own brand.”
The new ammunition is intended for firing at tanks equipped with enhanced dynamic protection, self-propelled artillery mounts, DOS embrasure flaps, armored caps and other armored targets.
It is noted that the developers of the Bakhirev NIMI (part of Techmash) managed to significantly improve the tactical and technical characteristics of the products. In particular, the armor-piercing of the shots increased by more than 20% compared to the standard Mango shots.
If the shots being fired today penetrate 230 mm of obstacles (at an angle of 60 degrees), then at Mango-M this figure is already 280-300 mm. New developments ensure the defeat of almost the entire range of armored weapons and military equipment of foreign countries from a distance of more than 2 km.
