Russian fighter jets scrambled twice on interception missions in last week
Russian fighter jets have been scrambled twice on interception missions in the last week, the Krasnaya Zvezda (Red Star) newspaper quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying.
According to the defense ministry, 40 foreign aircraft conducted reconnaissance near Russian borders. The defense ministry said that violations of Russian airspace were prevented.
The defense ministry said that Russian pilots carried out 220 sorties at 86 aerodromes in the past week.
‘Million-Man March’ in Baghdad against US presence in Iraq
Iraqi demonstrators filled the streets of Baghdad on Friday to take part in a “million-man march” calling for the US to end its military presence in Iraq.
The protest was called by Iraqi Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. “The skies, land and sovereignty of Iraq are being violated every day by occupying forces,” tweeted Sadr, who called for a “peaceful, unified demonstration to condemn the American presence and its violations.”
Throngs of marchers started gathering early on Friday at al-Hurriya Square in central Baghdad and near around the city’s main university, Reuters witnesses said. Marchers avoided Tahrir square, symbol of mass protests against Iraq’ ruling elites.
Some were wearing symbolic white robes indicating they’re willing to die for their country while others sat looking out over the square from half finished buildings, holding signs reading “No, no, America, no, no, Israel, no, no, colonialists.”
US Marine Corps begins to receive a decked version of the F-35C fighter
The US Marine Corps, for which it developed its own version of the fifth generation fighter F-35B, began to receive the deck version of the fighter – F-35C. As transmits “Warspot” citing the portal businessinsider.com, the first F-35C carrier-based fighter was launched by the VMFA-314 squadron.
Reportedly, the first F-35C received a marine fighter squadron 314 (Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314), better known as Black Knights (“Black Knights”). In service with the squadron until recently, F / A-18 Hornet fighters were located. The transition of the squadron to new aircraft was announced last summer, however, they began to receive the F-35C only now. The new F-35C Marine Corps will be based at Miramar California Airfield.
Previously, F-35C fighters were adopted by the U.S. Navy.
