ANAKRA, (BM) – One of the world’s leading defense industry magazines, Defense News, has dedicated its article to the recent rapprochement between Turkey and Russia.

REPORT: Turkey announced transfer of S-400’s technology with Russia

REPORT: NATO – to the Middle East, Russia – to the Mediterranean. Where is Turkey?

Turkish officials in an interview with the publication noted: “The unwillingness of the West to share technology for political reasons leads us to search for alternative technologies in countries with which we have no political problems.” One of the officials also made a statement on the S-500, the purchase of which from Russia is on the agenda, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, quoting Inosmi.ru.

The pages of Defense News, a well-known international community for comprehensive analyzes of issues related to the defense industry and trade in this area, have published an important publication about Turkey entitled “The unwillingness of the West to share technology is pushing Turkey into Russian orbit.” The article talks about attempts to prevent Turkey from getting the air defense system from the United States and Europe and notes that the United States and France are standing in the way.

A Turkish official who closely monitors Turkey’s efforts to acquire air defense systems spoke to Defense News. “The West’s reluctance to share technology for political reasons is forcing Turkey to turn to alternative technologies in countries with which it has no political problems,” he said. “Especially in Russia.”

Turkish official statement about S-500

The Turkish official did not talk about the details of the negotiations between Russia and Turkey about the S-500, but emphasized: “Everything is going well, as planned.”

“In Ankara, there is an understanding that it is necessary to use all the opportunities for obtaining Russian technologies, while our Western allies deprive us of such technologies,” the Turkish diplomat said. “And this also applies to the S-500 system.”

Last year, Turkey received two S-400 air defense batteries as part of a $ 2.5 billion deal. This step, despite objections from the United States and NATO, served as the reason for the exclusion of Turkey from the F-35 combat fighter program.

The S-500 can simultaneously hit ten ballistic hypersonic targets.
