TEL AVIV, (BM) – The Israeli Air Force plans to soon acquire 50 F-35 stealth fighters. This was told by a senior representative of Lockheed Martin Corporation, which produces airplanes, learned Bulgarianmilitary.com, according report of Israel Hiom.
During a recent visit to Israel, Vice President Gary North spoke to reporters in Tel Aviv. According to him, Israel has filed a request for information on the potential purchase of the third fifth-generation F-35 squadron.
“In May 2018, Israel’s first declared use of the aircraft was committed,” North said.
According to him, the advantages of the F-35 are not only that it is invisible to radars, but also in technologies that can recognize long-range aerial targets flying at low altitude at the speed of a ballistic missile. This aircraft is also able to exchange data from sensors in real time.
The Israeli defense industry plays a key role in aircraft manufacturing. Elbit teamed up with Rockwell Collins, an American company, to create a display that allows pilots to look 360 degrees and receive an array of data from sensors about the situation in the air and on the ground. Israel Aerospace Industries produces wings and upholstery F-35 – a special layer placed above the wings that allows them to become “invisible”.
