WASHINGTON, (BM) – The American company Raytheon won the US Department of Defense contract for the production of medium-range air-to-air missiles AMRAAM worth more than $ 768 million, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, qccording the Pentagon press service statement.
The ministry said that “the work will be carried out in the city of Tucson (Arizona), the expected completion date (of) is February 28, 2023,” TASS reports.
Raytheon is one of the largest corporations in the US military-industrial complex. The Pentagon noted that almost half of the cost of this contract will be covered by the sale of arms to US allies, including Poland, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Washington previously invited Beijing to arms control negotiations. The United States has repeatedly stated that possible new international arms control negotiations should include not only Russia and the United States, but also China.
The Kremlin said they understood Beijing’s position on a new treaty to reduce medium- and shorter-range missiles.
Meanwhile, last week the United States for the first time at the level of senior military leaders recognized the “usefulness” of deploying medium-range missiles in Asia.
