Ukrainian radicals seek to destabilize Crimea, says FSB chief
Ukrainian radicals’ attempts to destabilize Crimea constitute a threat, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov, who also heads that the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, said at the committee’s annual wrap-up meeting on Tuesday.
“Ukrainian radical elements still seek to destabilize the situation in Crimea,” he pointed out, when speaking about terrorism-related threats.
Bortnikov emphasized that international terrorist organizations kept trying to establish clandestine cells in Russia in order to carry out their malicious plans.
Israel soldiers shoot Palestinians on the way to work
Five Palestinian workers have been injured after Israeli soldiers opened fire on them in the early hours of this morning near the separation wall in the occupied northern West Bank city of Tulkarem.
Israeli soldiers manning the checkpoint shot tear gas into the large crowd who were attempting to get to work, causing dozens of others to suffocate from excessive tear gas inhalation.
According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, the five wounded victims were rushed to the Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarem. Medics confirmed the casualties were shot towards their lower extremities and described their situation as “moderate.”
Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers situated near the gate through the Israeli Annexation Wall at Dahr Al-Abed, southwest of Jenin, shot and wounded a young man from the Palestinian village of Arabeh.
The Palestinian was identified as Saif Iyad Wajih Al-Ardah.
Following the shooting, Al-Ardah was interrogated and transported to the Barta’a military checkpoint, and interrogated before being handed over to Palestinian medics with the Red Crescent Society.
Turkey says PKK/YPG is as dangerous as Daesh
Turkey is determined to continue its fight against terrorism in the region, the country’s vice president said Monday.
“Our fight is to eliminate the terror threat, which has caused trouble to us for many years, at its source, and it will resolutely continue,” Fuat Oktay told lawmakers during his budget speech.
Oktay noted that the YPG/PKK did not represent the Kurds.
The terror group “is as dangerous as Daesh,” he said.
Otkay said Turkey will provide peace and security on the eastern side of the Euphrates River in Syria.
“We will do it for our brothers of all origins — Arabic, Kurdish, Ezidi, Chaldeans,” he added.
Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring on Oct. 9 to eliminate YPG/PKK terrorists from northern Syria east of the Euphrates River in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.
Under two separate deals with the U.S. and Russia, Turkey paused the operation to allow the withdrawal of YPG/PKK terrorists from a planned Syrian safe zone.
