Su-34 fighter-bombers hold highly maneuverable aerial battle in Urals drills

The crews of Su-34 fighter-bombers sharpened their skills of conducting a dogfight single-handedly and as part of an air group and practiced interaction with the ground-based flight control team at the Shagol aerodrome in the Chelyabinsk Region, the press office of the Central Military District reported on Friday.

“Under the program of commander flights, today the commanding staff of the Central Military District’s composite aviation regiment practiced the most complex elements of combat training,” the press office said in a statement.

“The exercise to practice the skills of conducting an aerial battle single-handedly and as part of an air group with strikes on a non-maneuverable enemy was one of the most complex elements of the training day. The crews practiced aiming at, locking on and destroying a target, employing rockets and guided air-launched weapons. Ten crews of Su-34 and Su-24MR simultaneously took to the skies to simulate an aerial battle,” the statement says.

The pilots also performed flights at an extremely low altitude of about 5 meters, practiced approaching for landing over the featureless terrain and instrumental landing, the press office added.

Qatar, Sudan hold joint military drill

Qatar and Sudan have held a joint military drill in the Red Sea province to the east of Sudan, the Qatari Defence Ministry announced in a statement.

The head of Qatar’s Colleges and Institutions Authority, Rashid Nasser, and the Sudanese Governor of the Red Sea state Governor Major General Hafiz El Taj attended the drill.

Nasser praised the drill and the training received by participants.

As a humanitarian initiative, the Qatari Armed Forces established a dialysis centre in the Sinkat area of the Red Sea province.

The initiative was praised by Makki. “This is not new to Qatar. Qatar stood by Sudan when other countries turned their back on it,” he said.

Israeli missile test defense ministry says

Israel announced Friday it had conducted a test of a rocket motor system from a base in the center of the country.

“The test was scheduled in advance and was carried out as planned.” The defense ministry said.

Tests to rocket systems are carried out periodically, among them testing of missile defense systems.

Earlier this year a joint U.S. Israeli testing was conducted for the ‘David’s Sling’ missile defense system which was made operational two years ago to respond to the threat of ballistic missile attacks.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Portugal Wednesday, to discuss the growing threats from Iran.
