WASHINGTON, (BM) – United States ready to impose sanctions on Egypt if government decides to buy Russian Su-35 fighter jets, has learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
US Assistant Secretary of State for Political and Military Affairs Clark Cooper said just this to reporters in Dubai.
According to military representatives, Cairo has already signed a deal with Russia to buy Russian fighters to use to fight various terrorist organizations, and Islamic rebels.
Another source claims that the reason Egypt turned to Russia for the supply of aircraft was the refusal of the United States years ago to sell 25 F-35 fighter jets to the African country.
In this way, the deal with Russia will differentiate Egypt’s military suppliers, as in the past years the United States suspended its military assistance to Egypt for human rights violations.
And the two warriors wished anonymity, since they were not authorized to speak on this issue.
