PANAGYURISHTE, (BM) – Your briefly report on August 23 in last twelve hours from BulgarianMilitary.com:
Father and son wounded, daughter killed in West Bank terror attack
A teenage girl was killed and her father and brother were seriously injured on Friday in an explosion near a natural spring near the Israeli settlement of Dolev in the West Bank in what the military is calling a serious terror attack, The Jerusalem Post reported.
IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Ronen Manelis called the attack “a serious terror attack” and said that the military is still not sure if the explosive device was thrown at the family or if the device had been planted in the stream and remotely set off.
Manelis said the military had still not determined if the terrorists, who fled the scene, acted as part of an established terror group or were working alone.
Rina Shnerb, 17, of Lod, was critically wounded in the attack at Ein Bubin spring and was treated at the scene before succumbing to her wounds. She was laid to rest at 3.30PM in the Lod cemetery.
Syrian army pushes into encircled rebel pocket in northwest
Syrian troops pushed deep into a pocket of territory in the northwest where they encircled rebels and a Turkish military post, seizing towns the insurgents have held for years, Arab News reported.
The army has imposed “a choking siege” on the cluster of towns, with much of it coming either under army control or within firing range, state-run Ikhabriya TV said.
Soldiers captured a dozen hills, expanding state control of a main highway that runs through the area and stretches from the capital Damascus to Aleppo city, it added.
Several rebel officials did not respond to requests for comment.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said pro-government force, backed by Russia, recovered the town of Kafr Zita from rebels who had controlled it since 2012. A Turkish military post in the nearby town of Morek was now also encircled, the UK-based war monitor and state TV said.
3 terrorists ‘neutralized’ in Turkey’s east
Turkish security forces “neutralized” three terrorists in a counter-terrorism operation in the country’s east, the Interior Ministry said on Friday, Anadolu Agency reported.
Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
According to an Interior Ministry statement, the operation was conducted by the provincial gendarmerie command in Nazimiye district of Tunceli province.
The operations in the regions are ongoing, the statement added.
Though the statement did not mention a specific terrorist group, Turkey has long been conducting operations against the PKK terrorist organization in the region.
