Russian-Made MiG-29 Aircraft of the Azerbaijani Air Force Crashed During Training Flights

BAKU, (BM) – A MiG-29 aircraft of the Azerbaijani Air Force crashed during training flights and the pilot is being sought, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, according MoD press service statement on Thursday.

“On July 24, at about 22:00 local time (21:00 Moscow time), communication with the MiG-29 plane of the Azerbaijani Air Force carrying out scheduled training flights at night was suddenly lost and disappeared from the radar. According to the preliminary version, the MiG-29 has been crashed and fell into the Caspian Sea”– said in a statement.

According to the defense ministry, urgent measures are being taken to search for and rescue the pilot. On behalf of the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, a commission has been established that has launched an investigation into the causes of the accident.

Azerbaijani military prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case in connection with the plane crash.

“A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the state of emergency in the Military Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, an investigation team has been created and urgent necessary investigative actions have been initiated,” the ministry said.
