SOFIA, (BM) – The Su-25 aircraft will be repaired in Bulgaria and our country extends an invitation to Russia for Russian specialists to join, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
This was stated by President of National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva at her meeting with Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, quoted by the press center of the Parliament.
The contract for the repair of the Su-25 is one of the strangest decisions of the Ministry of Defence in recent years.
Last year, MoD signed a contract with “558 Aircraft Repair Plant” in Belarus for the maintenance of the 14 machines. Only this candidate was admitted to participate in the tender after the other invited company, the Russian “United Aircraft Corporation”, did not submit a bid.
Subsequently, however, it turned out that Belarus was subject to European sanctions. For months, the ministry has been looking for ways to implement the contract, but obviously another decision has now been taken – the engage of the “Avionams” plant.
