PANAGYURISHTE (BGM) – Russia’s National Guard (Rosgvardiya) may replace its current standard weapon – the Makarov handgun – with upgraded versions of the Lebedev handgun (MPL-1 and MPL-2), the chief of Rosgvardiya’s weapons and hardware department, Aleksey Bezzubikov, told the science and engineering forum devoted to cutting-edge technologies created for Russia’s law enforcement agencies, TASS reported.
“At the moment we are considering the Lebedev handgun as an option. It is a fundamental upgrade of the PL-15,” he said.
The MPL-1 and MPL-2 are considered as likely standard weapons for Rosgvardiya’s crack units
US Navy aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, along with supporting Commander Task Force 70 units, began underway operations in the Indo-Pacific on 20 May, Shephard Media reported.
Ronald Reagan and CTF 70 units routinely operate in the Indo-Pacific, participating in cooperative deployments, multi-lateral exercises and training to ensure the security and stability of the region.
Ronald Reagan recently completed an extensive maintenance period which repaired and upgraded ship’s systems increasing its capabilities.
The first HH-60W combat rescue helicopter (CRH) for the USAF has made its first flight at Sikorsky’s West Palm Beach facility in Florida, ADBR reported.
Based on the US Army’s latest UH-60M Black Hawk variant, the HH-60W will replace ageing HH-60G Pave Hawks that have been in service since the 1980s. The first HH-60W will be joined by three more flight test aircraft in the next couple of months, and the program is expected to meet its Milestone C production decision in September. Five System Demonstration Test Articles (SDTA) are expected to join the flight test aircraft for the project’s engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) program.
