The Bulgarian and Greek Special Operations Forces Will Demonstrate Their Capabilities Today

SOFIA (BGM) – General Andrey Botsev, the Bulgarian Chief of Defence, and General Christos Christodoulou, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, will watch today, May 23, in the region of Cheshnegirovo Air Base, Sadovo Municipality, the final stage of the joint preparation of the Special Operations Forces, learned BulgarianMilitary.com. It has been held in our country since May 16.

The Bulgarian and Greek servicemen will demonstrate shooting skills and abilities in executing tasks of neutralizing terrorists in a building using an explosive penetration method, in giving first aid to a wounded, as well as in blocking and holding a vehicle through attack helicopters and a storm special operations group.

The Commander of the 68th Special Forces Brigade, Brigadier General Yavor Mateev, and the Commander of the Hellenic Joint Special Operations Command, Major General Georgios Tsitsikostas, will also take part in the final stage of the joint Bulgarian-Greek Special Operations Forces training.

BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that the 68th Brigade of the Bulgarian Special Forces has participated and takes part in a number of international military operations under the auspices of NATO in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Last year, between June and July, Greece hosted the same exercise that took place in the Nea Peramos area.
