PANAGYURISHTE, Bulgaria (BulgarianMilitary.com) – Belarus shows interest in buying Russian-made air defense systems, including Pantsyr surface-to-air missile/gun complexes and Tor systems of various modifications, Head of Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheyev told TASS at the HeliRussia-2019 exhibition on Friday.
“Today, Russian-made air defense systems, Pantsyr and Tor complexes of various modifications and, undoubtedly, Mi-35 and Mi-17 helicopters are in demand in Belarus. The Ansat helicopter also evokes big interest, considering its characteristics and its price. This also refers to the Ka-226 helicopter and small arms,” Mikheyev said.
An F-16 fighter jet being flown in routine training exercises crashed into a warehouse just outside March Air Reserve Base in Southern California on Thursday, the pilot ejected and five people on the ground were reported injured, Reuters reported.
The extent of the injuries was unclear and the pilot was reportedly “transported to a local hospital for evaluation,” officials with the United States Air Force Reserve said in a release late Thursday.
Earlier it was stated by officials that there were no reported injuries.
A U.S. air strike killed at least eight policeman in Afghanistan’s Helmand province, a government official said on Friday, the latest casualties from a rise in air and ground operations against the Afghan Taliban, Reuters reported.
An American military spokesman called the deaths a “tragic accident” that occurred after Afghan security forces requested U.S. air support for an operation against the Taliban.
Omar Zwak, a spokesman for Helmand’s governor, said at least eight policemen were killed in the strike conducted by American forces on Thursday night.
