LOS ANGELES, the USA (BulgarianMilitary.com) – Silvus Technologies announced on 11th December 2018 that a major military Prime contractor in Australia has received the first set of High Data Rate Line of Sight (HDRLOS) systems for the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet of Anzac Frigates, learned BulgarianMilitary.com
The HDRLOS systems were delivered by the Sydney based distributor for Silvus Technologies in Australia and New Zealand, Amber Technology. They will be fitted to all new qualifying Naval Vessels, as well as being deployed as an upgrade to existing vessels where appropriate.
The HDRLOS system features a custom-built unit, which is ruggedized and certified to MilSpec requirements for active battleship use. Each unit consists of Silvus Waveforms with a dedicated control system and 100 W of amplification for each of the two bands that the radio supports. It is available in Rack Mount, Bulkhead Mount, and fully deployable versions, and thus the HDRLOS system is completely compatible with the full range of standard Silvus radios.
Silvus radios deliver a self-forming, self-healing mesh network that allows vessels to establish data links with each other automatically, seamlessly and without operator intervention.
Amber Technology and the Prime engineers have worked closely with the RAN (Royal Australian Navy) on the development and testing program for the system for 3 years so that to ensure that the system was fully compliant with requirements of the Australian Navy.
The Anzac (Namesake: The Australia and New Zealand Army Corps) class is a ship class of ten frigates. Eight of them are operated by the Royal Australian Navy and two are operated by the Royal New Zealand Navy. HMAS Anzac (FFH 150) is the lead ship of the Anzac-class frigates. As of 2014, all ten ships are in service. The RAN plans to start replacing theirs in 2024, and the RNZN ships will remain in service until around 2030.
