ULAN BATOR, Mongolia, (BulgarianMilitary.com) – Today, the Russian News Agency TASS reported for one-day official visit of the Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu in Ulan Bator, where he arrived earlier today in order to meet with the Mongolian Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and Mongolian Defense Minister Nyamaa Enkhbold. The main reason for his visit is to be expanded the military-technical cooperation between Russia and Mongolia, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
During the meeting, the both Defence Ministers discussed the issues of bilateral defense cooperation between Russia and Mongolia and after that signed a long-term program for it and in order to enhance defence their ties. Under the program, the two countries will cooperate in armed forces management, joint exercises and military education. Shoygu said that Russia would further deepen the military-technical cooperation with Mongolia, referring to their traditionally good-neighborly relations with long history and similar approaches to solve the most urgent issues on the international agenda.
At his talks with the Mongolian Defense Minister Nyamaa Enkhbold, Shoigu said: “We value the fact that Mongolia considers developing cooperation with Russia among its most important foreign policy priorities. We confirm our goal to use the accumulated potential in a most effective manner to expand military and military-technical cooperation.”
This year, Mongolia actively participated in the events of the Russia’s Defense Ministry, including the recent Council of Defense Ministers of CIS countries, Moscow Conference on International Security, the International Military-Technical Forum “Army”, the 100th anniversary of the Red Army and the International Army Games. In Ulan Bator, Shoigu expressed his gratitude for this Mongolian participation.
Today, Russia’s Defence Minister also delivered military equipment assistance to the Mongolian Air Defense Forces.
During the meeting with Sergey Shoigu, the Mongolian Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh expressed his gratitude for Russia’s continuous providing of training and military-technical equipment to Mongolia. Khurelsukh said: “Mongolia attaches great importance to deepening its relations with Russia in all sectors. In this regard, we are ready to continue to expand military-technical cooperation between our two countries.”
