MOSCOW, the Russian Federation (BulgarianMilitary.com) – The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation announced that yesterday (4th October 2018) the General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the Russian General Staff, welcomed in Moscow a the military delegation of the Indian Army headed by its Chief of Staff General Bipin Rawat, learned BulgarianMilitary.com
Valery Gerasimov underlined, “We attach great attention to meetings between military leaders of the two countries, as well as to regular joint combat training events within the ‘Indra’ series. This military cooperation includes also interaction between the general staffs.”
He also shared his opinion that Russia and India have established close and friendly relations over the past decades and that these relations feature a high level of trust. In addition, the Russian-Indian ties are reported to be high privileged strategic partnership.
“Last year, diplomatic relations between Russia and India marked 70th anniversary. Throughout this period, we have been expanding our contacts at all levels. Regular confidential meetings of the heads of our states give a powerful boost to the development of bilateral relations,” the Chief of the Russian General Staff added.
The Chief of Staff of the Indian Army General Bipin Rawat, on his part, expressed his hopes that India will be supported during the procurement of new armaments and in the modernisation of the Indian Army as well.
During its visit to Russia, the military delegation of the Indian Army was able to learn more about capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as of their Land Forces.
This visit follows a couple of recent events, which show the good cooperation of both countries in regard to military issues, e.g. the approval of a plan by India for the purchase of 5 Russian-built S-400 Triumph defence systems, the last conference on Indra 2018 held in India, etc.
