The public procurement motives state, “The appointed technical and inter-repair resource of the foreseen for repairs Su-25 aircrafts has expired more than 10 years ago and for that reason they need repairs of good quality with execution of all current bulletins, concerning not only the strength of the construction, but also all the rest equipment of the aircraft.”
It is not known yet how many of the aircrafts will be repaired and set in an airworthy condition.
Actually, for about a year the Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov promises the bigger part of the available Su-25s to be put into operation. According to Karakachanov, “We have fourteen Su-25 bombers, which are excellent and with cheap maintenance, but only four are in operation.” The Defence Minister also stated some time ago that it is “a sin against people” if aircrafts that may be in operation till 2029-2030 are not used.
The extension of the resource could be executed by the original maker – the Russian JSC Sukhoi Company, or on the grounds of its conclusion. Therefore after a research it has been found out that the repairs and extension of the resource of the aircrafts could be done both in the Republic of Belarus and in the Russian Federation under the management of the original maker. That is why the Public Joint Stock Company United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC UAC), the Russian Federation and the JSC “558 Aircraft Repair Plant”, Baranovichi, the Republic of Belarus has received invitations for the tender procedure.
The public procurement also involves training of the engineering, technical and flying staff, as well as provision of aviation technical equipment, technical documentation, control and inspection equipment, etc.
