In its emergency press release, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that among the 28 destroyed tanks were eight German-made Leopard 2 tanks and three French-made AMX-10 wheeled tanks.

At this time, Kyiv has not confirmed the losses. Kyiv warned two days ago that it might not report the counteroffensive actions of the Ukrainian armed forces. At the same time, however, Kyiv announced that “similar messages” from Moscow are possible, which should not be accepted as true. The very statement of Kyiv in this direction says that Ukraine is clearly starting counteroffensive actions.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, on June 5, Kyiv reorganized the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades into separate consolidated units. The reorganization was necessary to make up for losses since June 4, when the same two brigades launched a counteroffensive at five points on the southern Donetsk front line. It was reported that the settlements of Novodarovka and Levadnoye were attacked by Ukrainian soldiers.

At the same time, the Ukrainian troops began an offensive in the direction of Sovkhoz Oktyabrskyi and Novodonetskoe with the forces of the 37th Marine Brigade with reinforcements, which were based on units of the 68th Mountain Jaeger Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This part of the Ukrainian armed forces was inflicted a complex fire defeat by the forces of the Russian army, attack, and operational-tactical aviation, missile troops and artillery, as well as heavy flame-throwing systems. It is reported that Russian Army Group Vostok was actively involved in these battles, and it was they who inflicted the defeat of Ukrainian troops in the region.

2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine

On 21 February 2022, Russia claimed that Ukrainian shelling had destroyed an FSB border facility. Russia claimed that it had killed 5 Ukrainian soldiers. They tried to cross into Russian territory. Ukraine denied being involved in both incidents and called them a false flag.

On the same day, the Russian government formally recognized the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR. According to Putin not only in their de-facto controlled areas, but the Ukrainian Oblasts as a whole. Putin ordered Russian troops, including tanks, to enter the regions.

On 24 February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an invasion of Ukraine by Russian Armed Forces previously concentrated along the border. The invasion followed by targeted airstrikes of military buildings in the country, as well as tanks entering via the Belarus border.

Russia has so far not recognized the invasion of Ukraine as a “war”, although that is exactly what it is, claiming that it is a “special military operation”. According to the UN, a “special military operation” can only take place after a UN resolution. There is no such resolution. So this is an invasion and war against Ukraine.
